Timothy James Bottoms ist ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler. Timothy Bottoms ist der älteste von vier Brüdern, die alle Schauspieler geworden sind: Joseph Bottoms (* 1954), Sam Bottoms (1955–2008) und Ben Bottoms (* 1960) arbeiteten ebenfalls im Filmgeschäft. Sein vielversprechendes Filmdebüt gab Timothy Bottoms 1971 unter Regie von Dalton Trumbo im Antikriegsfilm Johnny zieht in den Krieg. Noch im selben Jahr spielte er als Sonny Crawford auch die Hauptrolle in dem Kultfilm Die letzte Vorstellung von Peter Bogdanovich 1971. Nach guten Kritiken für seine durchaus anspruchsvollen Darstellungen in Johnny zieht in den Krieg und Die letzte Vorstellung galt Bottoms als kommender Hollywood-Star und spielte unter anderem 1973 an der Seite von John Houseman in Zeit der Prüfungen. Nach einer Reihe von unglücklichen Filmflops Mitte der 1970er-Jahre nahm Bottoms Popularität allerdings bald wieder ab. Bottoms versuchte sich fortan in experimentelleren Rollen. In den 1980er- und 1990er-Jahren wirkte Bottoms als Haupt- und Nebendarsteller einer großen Anzahl von B-Movies mit, ohne dass sich der alte Erfolg wieder einstellte. Erneute Aufmerksamkeit brachte ihm seine große äußerliche Ähnlichkeit mit dem damaligen US-Präsidenten George W. Bush, weshalb er diesen in mehreren Filmen sowie der Fernsehserie Hier kommt Bush! darstellte.
