Lewis Frederick Ayres III war ein US-amerikanischer Schauspieler, dessen Film- und Fernsehkarriere sich über 65 Jahre erstreckte. Er ist vor allem für seine Rollen als deutscher Soldat Paul Bäumer in dem Film Im Westen nichts Neues (1930) und als Dr. Kildare in neun Filmen bekannt. Für seine Darstellung in Schweigende Lippen (1948) wurde er für einen Oscar als Bester Hauptdarsteller nominiert.
