Uwe Boll ist am 22. Juni 1965 geboren. Er ist ein deutscher Filmemacher und Restaurateur. Bekannt wurde er in den 2000er Jahren durch seine Verfilmungen von Videospiel-Franchises. Viele seiner Filme, wie z.B. "Alone in the Dark" (2005), wurden von Kritikern negativ bewertet und gelten als kommerzielle Misserfolge. Boll finanzierte seine Filme oft selbst durch seine Produktionsfirmen Boll KG und Event Film Productions. Trotz der negativen Kritiken hat er eine treue Fangemeinde und ist bekannt für seine kontroversen und oft provokativen Aussagen. Neben seiner Filmkarriere betreibt Boll auch mehrere Restaurants und hat sich in den letzten Jahren verstärkt auf die Gastronomie konzentriert.
