Biografie:

George Seaton (eigentlich George Edward Stenius) war ein US-amerikanischer Drehbuchautor, Dramatiker, Filmregisseur und -produzent sowie Theaterregisseur. Seaton leitete mehrere Branchenorganisationen und war dreimal Präsident der Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences, Präsident der Writers Guild of America West und der Screen Directors Guild sowie Vizepräsident des Motion Picture Relief Fund. Seine Drehbücher brachten ihm zwei Oscars, 1948 für Das Wunder von Manhattan und 1955 für Ein Mädchen vom Lande. Beide Filme inszenierte er auch. Sein größter Erfolg wurde 1970 der Katastrophenfilm Airport, der mehrere Fortsetzungen nach sich zog und das Genre neu belebte.
