Lee Grant (geb. Lyova Haskell Rosenthal) ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin und Regisseurin. Ihr Filmdebüt gab sie 1951 als junge Ladendiebin in William Wylers „Detective Story“ neben Kirk Douglas und Eleanor Parker. Für diese Rolle wurde sie 1952 für den Oscar als Beste Nebendarstellerin nominiert und erhielt den Preis als Beste Schauspielerin bei den Filmfestspielen von Cannes. 1952 wurde sie für die folgenden zwölf Jahre von den meisten Schauspieljobs ausgeschlossen. In dieser Zeit fand sie nur gelegentlich Arbeit auf der Bühne oder als Lehrerin. Dies trug auch zu ihrer Scheidung bei. 1962 wurde sie von der schwarzen Liste gestrichen und baute ihre Schauspielkarriere wieder auf. Sie spielte in 71 Fernsehfolgen von „Peyton Place“ (1965–1966) mit, gefolgt von Hauptrollen in Filmen wie „Tal der Puppen“, „In der Hitze der Nacht“ (beide 1967) und „Shampoo“ (1975), für den sie einen Oscar gewann. 1964 erhielt sie für ihre Darstellung in „Die Zofen“ den Obie Award für herausragende Leistungen einer Schauspielerin. Im Laufe ihrer Karriere wurde sie zwischen 1966 und 1993 sieben Mal für den Emmy nominiert und gewann ihn zweimal. 1986 inszenierte sie „Erledigt in Amerika“, der ihr den Oscar für den besten Dokumentarfilm einbrachte, und im selben Jahr gewann sie auch einen Directors Guild of America Award für „Nobody’s Child“.
