Mario Gianluigi Puzo (15. Oktober 1920 – 2. Juli 1999) war ein US-amerikanischer Autor und Drehbuchautor, bekannt für seine Romane über die Mafia, darunter „Der Pate“ (1969), den er später gemeinsam mit Francis Ford Coppola verfilmte. Er gewann 1972 und 1974 den Oscar für das beste adaptierte Drehbuch.
