Fred Olen Ray ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmproduzent, Regisseur und Drehbuchautor von über 200 Spielfilmen niedriger bis mittlerer Qualität in vielen Genres, darunter Horror, Science-Fiction, Action/Abenteuer, Erotikthriller, Krimis und Weihnachtsfilme. Ray ist Leiter von Retromedia, das DVDs sowohl seiner eigenen Produktionen als auch von Archivfilmen herausbringt. Er arbeitete auch für andere namhafte Independent-Studios und gelegentlich auch für große Hollywood-Studios. Er gilt als Inspiration für viele unabhängige Filmemacher. Er lieh Quentin Tarantino eine 16-mm-Kamera, damit dieser „My Best Friend's Birthday“ drehen konnte.
