Edi Gathegi ist ein kenianisch-amerikanischer Schauspieler, geboren am 10. März 1979 in Nairobi, Kenia. Er wuchs in Albany, Kalifornien, auf und studierte an der Universität von Kalifornien zunächst Basketball, bevor ihn eine Knieverletzung zur Schauspielerei brachte. Sein Schauspielstudium absolvierte er an der renommierten Tisch School of the Arts der New York University. Bekanntheit erlangte Gathegi durch seine Rollen als Dr. Jeffrey Cole in der Serie Dr. House , als Vampir Laurent in den Filmen Twilight und New Moon sowie als Darwin im Film X-Men: Erste Entscheidung. Weitere wichtige Serienrollen hatte er als Matias Solomon in The Blacklist und The Blacklist: Redemption, als Ronald Dacey in StartUp sowie als Dev Ayesa in der Apple TV+-Serie For All Mankind ab 2022. 2025 übernimmt er im DCU-Film Superman die Rolle des Michael Holt alias Mister Terrific. Im Theater spielte Gathegi unter anderem in Othello, Ein Sommernachtstraum und Cyrano de Bergerac. Zu weiteren Film- und Serienauftritten zählen Crank, Gone Baby Gone – Kein Kinderspiel, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Atlas Shrugged, Justified, Beauty and the Beast und CSI: Miami.
