Jayne Mansfield war eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin, die sowohl am Broadway als auch in Hollywood arbeitete. Als eines der führenden blonden Sexsymbole der 1950er-Jahre spielte Mansfield in mehreren populären Hollywood-Filmen mit, die ihr platinblondes Haar, ihre Sanduhrfigur und ihre dekolletébetonten Kostüme in Szene setzten. Obwohl Mansfields Filmkarriere nur von kurzer Dauer war, feierte sie einige Kassenerfolge. Sie gewann den Theatre World Award, einen Golden Globe und einen Golden Laurel. Als die Nachfrage nach blonden Sexsymbolen in den 1960er-Jahren nachließ, wurde Mansfield auf Low-Budget-Filmmelodramen und -Komödien beschränkt, blieb aber ein beliebter Star. Auch in ihrer späteren Karriere zog sie weiterhin große Menschenmengen im Ausland an und absolvierte lukrative und erfolgreiche Nachtclub-Tourneen. Mansfield war Playboy-Playmate des Monats und erschien noch mehrmals in dem Magazin. Sie starb im Alter von 34 Jahren bei einem Autounfall.
