Jeffrey Atkins (* 29. Februar 1976), besser bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Ja Rule, ist ein US-amerikanischer Rapper, Sänger und Schauspieler. Geboren in Hollis, Queens, begann er seine Karriere in der Gruppe Cash Money Click und debütierte 1999 mit Venni Vetti Vecci und der Single „Holla Holla“. Von 2000 bis 2004 landete Ja Rule mehrere Hits, die es in die Top 20 der US Billboard Hot 100 schafften, darunter „Between Me and You“ mit Christina Milian, „I’m Real (Murder Remix)“ mit Jennifer Lopez, „Always on Time“ und „Mesmerize“ (beide mit Ashanti) sowie „Wonderful“ mit R. Kelly und Ashanti. In den 2000er-Jahren stand Ja Rule bei The Inc. Records unter Vertrag, dem Label, das zuvor unter dem Namen Murder Inc. firmierte und von Irv Gotti geleitet wurde.
