Milla Jovovich, 1975 in Kiew geboren, ist eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Jovovich zog im Alter von fünf Jahren gemeinsam mit ihren Eltern in die USA. Mit gerade mal elf Jahren hatte sie ihren Durchbruch als Modell. So war sie u.a. auf den Covern der Vogue und der Cosmopolitan zu sehen. Seit Ende der 80er Jahre hatte Milla Jovovich erste Rollen in Film und Fernsehen. Größere Bekanntheit erreichte sie 1991 mit der Hauptrolle im Sequel zu Die blaue Lagune. Da sie mit ihren Engagements nicht zufrieden war, beschloß die gebürtige Ukrainerin es als Musikerin zu versuchen – sie veröffentlichte 1994 ein Album mit geringem Erfolg. Ihren endgültigen Durchbruch feierte Milla Jovovich 1997 mit ihrem Filmcomeback in Luc Bessons Das fünfte Element. 2002 bekam sie mit Resident Evil ihre erste eigene Filmreihe, die sich kommerziell zu einem großen Erfolg entwickelte und weitere Teile nach sich zog. Milla Jovovich ist seit 2009 in dritter Ehe mit Regisseur Paul W.S. Anderson verheiratet.
