Stephen Sommers ist ein US-amerikanischer Filmregisseur, Drehbuchautor und Produzent, der vor allem für seine Actionfilme mit hohem Budget bekannt ist, darunter „Die Mumie“ (1999), dessen Fortsetzung „Die Mumie kehrt zurück“ (2001), „Van Helsing“ (2004) und „G.I. Joe – Die Abrechnung“ (2009). Er führte außerdem Regie bei „Huckleberry Finn“ (1993), Disneys erster Realverfilmung von Rudyard Kiplings „Das Dschungelbuch“ (1994) und dem Action-Horrorfilm „Deep Rising“ (1998).
