Ein echter Arzt, der zum Schauspieler wurde - Ken Jeong erregte die Aufmerksamkeit Hollywoods mit szenenstehlenden Auftritten in erfolgreichen Filmkomödien wie "Beim ersten Mal" (2007) und "Hangover" (2009). Als Medizinstudent in North Carolina trat Jeong als Stand-up-Comedian in lokalen Clubs auf. Er verfeinerte seine Darbietung weiter während seiner Facharztausbildung in New Orleans, wo er 1995 einen Comedy-Wettbewerb gewann, der vom ehemaligen NBC-Unterhaltungspräsidenten Brandon Tartikoff und dem Gründer des Improv Comedy Clubs, Budd Friedman, juriert wurde. Beide Männer ermutigten Jeong, nach Hollywood zu ziehen. Er tat dies 1998 und arbeitete dort als Arzt, während er auch in kleinen Fernsehrollen auftrat. Jeongs großer Durchbruch kam 2007, als er für eine kleine Rolle als pingelige, aber wohlmeinende Geburtshelferin in Judd Apatows Hit-Komödie "Beim ersten Mal" besetzt wurde. Mehrere Rollen folgten schnell, darunter übertriebene Auftritte in Filmkomödien wie "Ananas Express" (2008) und "Hangover". Er trat auch regelmäßig in der NBC-Sitcom "Community" (NBC, 2009-15; Yahoo!, 2015) auf, und 2010 erschien er in mehreren Filmkomödien, was weiter sein Talent als komödiantischer Schauspieler trotz seines medizinischen Hintergrunds zeigte.
