Cecil Blount DeMille war ein US-amerikanischer Filmemacher und Schauspieler. Zwischen 1914 und 1958 drehte er 70 Stumm- und Tonfilme. Er gilt als einer der Gründerväter des amerikanischen Kinos und als der kommerziell erfolgreichste Produzent und Regisseur der Filmgeschichte. Viele seiner Filme dominierten die Kinokassen mit jeweils drei oder vier Filmen gleichzeitig. Seine Filme zeichneten sich durch ihren epischen Umfang und seine filmische Bühnenpräsenz aus.
