Thelma Alice Todd (29. Juli 1906 – 16. Dezember 1935) war eine US-amerikanische Schauspielerin. Zwischen 1926 und 1935 wirkte sie in rund 120 Filmen mit und ist vor allem für ihre komödiantischen Rollen in Filmen wie „Monkey Business“ und „Horse Feathers“ der Marx Brothers, einigen Kurzfilmen von Charley Chase sowie in „Speak Easily“ an der Seite von Buster Keaton und Jimmy Durante bekannt. Sie spielte außerdem in Komödien von Wheeler und Woolsey, in mehreren Laurel-und-Hardy-Filmen, wobei ihre Rolle in „The Bohemian Girl“ durch ihren verdächtigen Tod im Alter von 29 Jahren vorzeitig beendet wurde. Während der Stummfilmzeit übernahm Todd zahlreiche Nebenrollen, in denen ihre Schönheit zwar zur Geltung kam, ihr schauspielerisches Talent aber kaum zum Vorschein kam. Mit dem Aufkommen des Tonfilms bot sich Todd die Gelegenheit, ihr Rollenspektrum zu erweitern, als Produzent Hal Roach sie für Auftritte an der Seite von Komikerstars wie Harry Langdon, Charley Chase und Laurel und Hardy engagierte. 1931 besetzte Roach Todd in ihrer eigenen Reihe von Slapstick-Kurzfilmen mit einer Länge von jeweils 17 bis 27 Minuten. In dem Bestreben, eine weibliche Version von Laurel und Hardy zu schaffen, brachte Roach Todd für 17 Kurzfilme mit ZaSu Pitts zusammen, von „Let's do Things“ (Juni 1931) bis „One Track Minds“ (Mai 1933). Als Pitts 1933 ausstieg, wurde sie durch Patsy Kelly ersetzt, die mit Todd in 21 Kurzfilmen auftrat, von „Beauty and the Bus“ (September 1933) bis „An All American Toothache“ (Januar 1936). In Roachs Kurzfilmen spielte Todd oft eine Arbeiterin mit allerlei Problemen, die trotz der peinlichen Eskapaden ihres Begleiters stets Haltung und Charme bewahrte. Todd wirkte auch erfolgreich in Dramen wie der Originalverfilmung von „Der Malteser Falke“ aus dem Jahr 1931 mit Ricardo Cortez als Sam Spade mit, in der sie Miles Archers hinterlistige Witwe verkörperte. Insgesamt wirkte sie in 119 Filmen mit, darunter viele Kurzfilme, und wurde mitunter als „Die Eiscremeblonde“ beworben. Todd setzte ihre Kurzfilmreihe bis 1935 fort und spielte in der Laurel-und-Hardy-Komödie „Das Mädchen aus der Bohème“. Dies war ihr letzter Film; sie starb, nachdem sie alle ihre Szenen abgedreht hatte, die meisten davon wurden jedoch neu gedreht. Produzent Roach strich Todds Dialoge und beschränkte ihren Auftritt auf eine einzige Musiknummer.
