The Outbreak - Was the Pandemic avoidable? (2022)
The film “The Outbreak” sets out to uncover the truth. Where did the virus come from? Who discovered it first? Who was the first to share the information with scientists outside of China? Who were the scientists who tried with all their might to make up for lost time after the virus was discovered? The film powerfully illustrates the consequences of exponential disease spread when time is lost at the outset. It explores the role played by the WHO. In the end, the question remains: Was COVID-19 just the beginning of a chain of pandemics originating in the animal kingdom? And can the gap between scientific “preparedness” and government “leadership” be closed quickly enough to find a better response to future global health crises?
