French writer Marcel Proust moves into a new apartment in order to retire to his work, but he is prevented by a terribly noisy neighbor. However, it is this noise that causes the acquaintance with the neighbor from above - Madame Williams. Alternating in correspondence delicate requests to moderate the noise and romantic admiration for a new acquaintance, the characters build their own way to understand each other.
