King Suea and Phanthai Norasingh (1982)
Adapted from a chronicle of the Ayutthaya period, it tells the story of Sing, a young villager skilled in boxing, who catches the eye of King Suea. The king invites him to become a royal page. One day, while the king is traveling by boat along the winding Samut Sakhon River, the royal barge, steered by Sing, strikes a tree branch, breaking the bow. Although the king refrains from executing Sing, he insists on being executed to uphold royal tradition.
