The Great Garrick (1937)
Celebrated 18th-century British actor David Garrick receives an invitation from the Comédie-Française in Paris, but they mistakenly hear that he plans to give them acting lessons. Insulted, the troupe arranges to stay at his inn and put on an outlandish performance to convince him of their skills. When Countess Germaine de la Corbe, fleeing an arranged marriage, arrives, Garrick believes that her romantic advances are part of the plot.
