Unreal Casting (2010)
The film’s plot tells the story of how two young men, Grant and Sasha, lifelong friends, accidentally end up at a film studio for a casting, where the director takes notice of them. When asked at the casting: “Who are you?”, Grant replies: “I’m a hooligan and a scoundrel.” The director proposes an unexpected experiment to these otherwise ordinary guys. The friends get a camera in their hands and an enticing offer — to make a film about their lives. And they did, hiding nothing from the camera. Three friends form a kind of “syndicate of good fortune”; they have more than one way to get money or seduce someone of the opposite sex. Guys like Grant and Sasha can be found in every courtyard, street, and city in Russia; in their view, the 90s were a romantic time, but they’re living in the present, and they’re not destined to go from rags to riches. However, they will find love — love that, by the way, they didn’t seek out; it found them.
