In 2087, Ayla escapes reality by living inside cyberspace. When a government AI summons her to Istanbul to identify a dead man, her journey turns into a confrontation with memory, reality, and the truth of her own existence. Set in 2087, in a future where a lifetime can be compressed into seconds through technology, Once Upon a Time in Cyberspace tells the story of a woman trying to escape reality and a task that forces her to travel from Izmir to Istanbul. The film explores the pain of being the one left behind—losing people, places, and moments, and continuing to live within memories.
