No job offers, no girlfriend. A college student Tatsuya Igawa suddenly receives the news of his mother's passing. Lured by the mystery of his own roots, he steps foot into the "Village of Eight Graves", hidden deep within the mountains of Okayama Prefecture, where he meets an enigmatic detective, Kosuke Kindaichi. A sealed memory of his ancestral roots and a deep-seated grudge begin to awaken, and as if timed perfectly with the return of Tatsuya—who is actually the heir to the vast fortune of the prestigious Tajimi family—consecutive murders begin to rock the village.
