Smudge (1922)
A comedy-drama starring and directed by Charles Ray. Stephen Stanton falls heir to a small-town newspaper in the midst of the California citrus groves. The town is bedeviled by the smoke from the smudgepots used to prevent the oranges from freezing, but Stephen uses his ingenuity to solve the problem.
