Novacap (2026)
In the near future, the reinless exploitation of the environment leads to the unexpected eruption of the volcanica caldera of Poços de Caldas in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Public authorities seize upon the disaster to advance the sanitation-driven project of a new capital, merging Rio de Janeiro and Brasília via a high-speed train that traverses the area devastated by the catastrophe. Many years after the tragedy of Poços, a woman stumbles upon a photographer's archive from the era of the Novacap project; through them, the effects of the merger and forced removals on people, physical spaces, and memory are investigated.
