Robert Weaver

Biography:

Robert Weaver is a visual effects supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). He joined the company in 1991 as a technical director, working on Hook (1991), Death Becomes Her (1992), The Mask (1994) and Contact (1997). Weaver's credits as a visual effects supervisor and CG supervisor include Sleepy Hollow (1999), The Perfect Storm (2000), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Avatar (2009), Cowboys & Aliens (2011), Battleship (2012) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). On Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), he served as a CG supervisor at ILM. His subsequent supervisory credits include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016), Kong: Skull Island (2017), 12 Strong (2018), Lady and the Tramp (2019), Godmothered (2020) and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). He also worked on Wicked (2024), directed by Jon M. Chu, as an ILM visual effects supervisor. His work on Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) earned him nominations for the 2024 Saturn Award for Best Film Visual/Special Effects and the Visual Effects Society Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature. He shared both nominations with fellow members of the film's visual effects team, including Andrew Whitehurst, Kathy Siegel and Alistair Williams. Weaver's other award nominations include a 2020 Visual Effects Society Award nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photoreal Episode for Lady and the Tramp (2019), a 2019 nomination for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature for 12 Strong (2018), and a 2016 Hollywood Professional Association Award nomination for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Feature Film for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (2016). Earlier in his career, he received a 2008 Visual Effects Society Award nomination for Outstanding Created Environment in a Live Action Motion Picture for Rush Hour 3 (2007) and a 2006 nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Animated Character in a Live Action Motion Picture for the dragon in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). He was also part of the visual effects team nominated for a 2024 Seattle Film Critics Society Award for Best Visual Effects for Wicked (2024).
