Valentina Maurel, is of Franco-Costa Rican origin, has a degree in Filmmaking from the Insas in Brussels. Her graduation film, Paul is Here (2017), won the First Cinefondation Prize at Cannes and was screened at the Premiers Plans Film Festival. Lucia en el limbo (2019), her second short film, was selected at the Critic's Week at Cannes, the Toronto International Film Festival and the Premiers Plans Film Festival in 2020.
