Biography:

Carlos Álvarez Núñez was a documentary filmmaker, film critic, and educator. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and at the Institute of Cinematography at Universidad Nacional del Litoral in Santa Fe (Argentina), where he was influenced by Fernando Birri. He became involved with the New Latin American Cinema as a distributor, through his critical writings, his 16mm documentary work, and as a founding member of the Committee of Latin American Filmmakers and the New Latin American Cinema Foundation.
