Lama Hewage Don Martin Wickramasinghe (29 May 1890 – 23 July 1976) was a prominent Sri Lankan journalist and author widely celebrated as the "father of modern Sinhala literature." He played a pivotal role in shifting Sinhala writing away from traditional romanticism toward realistic, socially conscious narratives that explored the deep psychological realities of everyday Sri Lankans.
