Maya Angelou Nievares is a Filipino filmmaker whose work explores the quiet, in-between spaces of memory, identity, and becoming. She produced A Short Film About Growing Up (2019), Wala (2022), and the award-winning Kaloy-i (2017), which received Best Guerrilla Filmmaking Workshop Film at the 15th Mindanao Film Festival. Working across roles as a cinematographer, editor, and producer, she crafts intimate, character-driven films shaped by emotional restraint and visual sensitivity, contributing to the growing landscape of regional cinema in Mindanao.
