Biography:

Kevin Gater, born 2 May 1974, is an educator and filmmaker originally from the UK, now based in Sundsvall, with a passion for creating visually stunning and emotionally resonant stories. With over 20 years of experience working and teaching in the Visual Arts, Kevin specialises in visual communication and digital imaging. As an active member of the filmmaking community, Kevin has taken on various roles, including cinematography, directing, editing, and visual effects, contributing to award-winning short films and documentary features for TV and festivals. Kevin is a graduate of Film Studies through Media & Journalism, Art & Theatre, and has worked as a Visual Effects artist, Editor, and Colour Grader. His work has been featured at film festivals around the world, with recent credits including the short films Gula Magar (Cinematographer), Knock Me Down (Writer/Director), and Even Monsters Can Be People (Writer/Director). Currently serving as the Head of Photography, Kevin has developed a multitude of campus and distance courses that empower students to view the world through a lens, fostering the ability to create and understand different ways of seeing. Kevin has been involved in international coordination, developing and participating in projects both at home and abroad.
