Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines:
Cedrick Valenzuela (b. 2001) is a Filipino filmmaker from Sagay, Negros Occidental, currently based in Manila. He sees filmmaking as an extension of himself, often drawing from his fears, anger, and personal heartbreak. For him, writing from a place of emotion is a way of processing experience and finding healing. In 2025, his short film When It Rained Malunggay Leaves premiered at Sine Kabataan 8, where it won Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing. The film was later named among Rolling Stone Philippines’ Top 21 Best Filipino Films of 2025 and received a nomination for Best Short Film at the 49th Gawad Urian Awards. He is currently developing his next short film, The Sky Has Milkfish, through the Objectifs × Momo Short Film Incubator in Singapore.
