Jean Micoine was a French artist and set decorator whose career spanned painting, illustration, and work in audiovisual production. Trained in the visual arts, he developed a strong sense of color and composition, which naturally led him toward set‑related professions. During the 1970s, he collaborated on several television productions, particularly historical dramas where his attention to detail was highly valued. In 1978, he joined the team of Pierre Cardinal’s series Mazarin as an ensemblier. He contributed to set dressing, prop selection, and the visual coherence of the filming locations, helping create the authentic atmosphere of a 17th‑century reconstruction. Alongside his television work, Micoine maintained a personal artistic practice, exhibiting regularly and publishing several illustrated books. His career reflects a versatile path at the crossroads of visual arts and screen production.
