Luisa Garcia Alva

Biography:

Luisa García Alva is a Peruvian documentary filmmaker, communications specialist, and cultural manager. Her work explores themes of memory and identity. She directed the short documentaries Artefacto (2007) and Hasta que regrese (2015). The latter was selected for festivals including the Lima Film Festival, Antofadocs, the Ícaro International Film Festival, and the Lebu International Film Festival, and received several awards, including the Best Documentary Short Film Award at Antofadocs. In 2016, she was selected for Talents Buenos Aires, where she began developing her first feature-length documentary. In 2020, How to Live With…? was among the projects awarded funding through the Ministry of Culture of Peru’s Economic Stimuli for Culture programme. During its development, the project participated in industry platforms such as Cine del Mañana and Ventana Sur. Today, How to Live With…? represents the culmination of more than ten years of work and marks her feature film debut.
