Tsun Winston Yeung is a live coding artist, composer of electronic music, and educator. He completed his PhD in Musical Composition with Scott Wilson at the University of Birmingham. Since relocating to Hong Kong, Yeung has been actively involved in the local experimental music scene, performing live coding sets, promoting sound art, and teaching in schools and workshops. Yeung's output revolves around the topics of live coding, data sonification, sensor-based performance, multi-channel composition, and audio-visual works. His research investigated computer music performance with the use of data from the human body. The result of his works comprises a variety of genres, including acousmatic composition, live electronics performances, and interactive installations. Yeung's past works have been presented and performed at various international events and conferences, including the New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME), International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), International Conference on Live Coding (ICLC), BEAST FEaST, and various Algorave events. He is also a member of Birmingham Ensemble of Electroacoustic Research (BEER ensemble), a laptop ensemble that focuses on networked live coding music. Major projects with the group include the Dark Matter, an ongoing project that transforms sonified data from CERN’s Large Hadron Collider into live music experiences.
