La criminóloga Lisa Monroe decide volver a Milford, su pueblo natal, para ingresar en las fuerzas de la policía local. Sin embargo, la joven se horroriza al descubrir que, después de 15 años, el crimen de su mejor amiga, Jenny, sigue sin esclarecerse. Guiada por su ex novio y nuevo jefe, Joe O'Connor, Lisa se desconcierta al descubrir que el tipo responsable del asesinato, Jake Mitchell, va a ser puesto en libertad. Las cosas se complican cuando personas cercanas a Lisa empiezan a fallecer misteriosamente.
