19 de noviembre de 2005, Haditha (Irak). Los insurgentes iraquíes bombardean un convoy americano, matando al oficial más apreciado por la tropa. Enfurecidos por esta pérdida, los soldados llevan a cabo una brutal venganza. El violento registro de las casas desemboca en una masacre con 24 muertos, entre ellos mujeres y niños.Sin embargo, los marines también son víctimas de esta guerra, atacados, heridos y obligados a dar una respuesta acorde a su instrucción. Pero cuando las cosas suceden a gran velocidad y bajo extrema presión, ¿se puede acusar de asesinato a los marines en la línea de fuego?
