La soledad del corredor de fondo (1962)
Colin Smith es un joven de clase obrera que vive en los alrededores de Nottingham. Un día comete un robo en una panadería y es enviado a un reformatorio. Una vez allí, empieza a correr y, gracias a sus cualidades como corredor de fondo, va ganando puestos en la institución penitenciaria. Durante sus entrenamientos reflexiona sobre su vida anterior y empieza a comprender que se encuentra en una situación privilegiada.
