Peyton McGruder es una madura periodista encargada del consultorio de amor de una revista. Una día una de sus lectoras, Eve Miller, le envía una carta para discrepar sobre su visión acerca del amor, reflejada en uno de sus artículos. Lejos de molestarse, Peyton toma con agrado sus críticas y decide conocerla. Entre ambas se estable una bonita amistad que les ayudará a entender el amor desde otro punto de vista.
