Chanticleer es el gallo de la granja, el que canta todas las mañanas para que salga el sol. Una mañana, los búhos impiden que cante y el resto de animales se decepcionan al descubrir que, cante o no, el sol sale igual. El gallo, avergonzado, abandona la granja para perderse en la ciudad. Y es entonces cuando empiezan los problemas: el sol ya no brilla y la lluvia asola las tierras causando inundaciones. Entonces, algunos de los animales deciden entrar en la ciudad para encontrar a Chanticleer y pedirle que regrese, pero los búhos tratarán de impedirlo...
