El joven Todd Boomer tiene una asignatura pendiente en el instituto, las matemáticas, indispensables para graduarse. De vuelta a casa, tras una fiesta a la que acude con su novia, ayuda a una mujer cuyo coche está averiado. Empiezan a hablar y se caen bien, y como Vicky es muy atractiva, Todd intenta quedar con ella para que le de clases particulares de matemáticas.
