Las bostonianas (1984)
Adaptación de la novela homónima del escritor norteamericano Henry James. Las primeras sufragistas bostonianas son burguesas ilustradas que luchan por conseguir la emancipación de las mujeres. Cuando Olive Chancellor (Vanessa Redgrave), su más destacada representante, conoce a Verena Tarrant (Madeleine Potter), una hermosa joven dotada de una rara elocuencia, queda tan prendada de ella que se la lleva a vivir a su casa y decide convertirla en portavoz del incipiente movimiento feminista. La visita de Basil (Cristopher Reeve) a su prima Olive desencadena entre ambos una lucha feroz a propósito de Verena.
