Historia basada en los hechos reales que ocurrieron en 1985 en el R.L. Paschel High School (Forth Worth, Texas) y que conmocionaron al mundo. Tras una serie de ataques de bandas juveniles al instituto de Santa Lucia el director del mismo, Bob Grootemat (Joe Spano), anima a los estudiantes a que luche para acabar con el clima de la violencia y drogas en el que vive. Inspirados por el discurso un grupo de alumnos, liderados por el joven Derek (Keanu Reeves) deciden formar una fraternidad secreta llamada “La Hermandad de la Justicia” dedicada a acabar con camellos, ladrones y todos aquellos que alteren la paz de las aulas. Todo marcha bien entre ellos hasta que cada uno decide utilizar la hermandad para cobrarse deudas pendientes...
