Esther Kahn (2000)
La historia sobre la ascensión de una chica judía de clase baja que vivía en un guetto londinense para etnias desfavorecidas hasta llegar a los escenarios de la capital convirtiéndose en actriz de éxito. Esther siente que lleva tiempo al márgen del resto de personas, pero sobre todo de su pobre familia, cuyos miembros trabajan todos en el negocio de la lavandería. Su vida pega un giro de 180 grados cuando realiza una "performance" en un teatro yiddish, y queda marcada para siempre por este hecho, sabiendo desde el justo momento que su propósito en la vida es convertirse en actriz.
