The Tattered Dress (1957)
Después de una noche alocada, Charleen la adúltera esposa del adinerado Michael Reston, llega a casa con su vestido hecho jirones. Le dice a su esposo que fue sexualmente agredida y Reston, enfurecido, encuentra al hombre y lo mata. James Blane, famoso abogado criminalista, cuyo propio matrimonio con Diane es sólo una formalidad, llega a Desert View, Nevada para tomar la defensa de Reston y encuentra que la gente del lugar y el Sheriff Nick Hoak, violento y políticamente poderoso, son claramente hostiles hacia los Reston. Sin embargo, estando allí Blane conoce a Hoak (celebridad local) quien lo adula porque es famoso y hasta le hace una confidencia. Cuando llega el juicio, Blane utiliza esta confidencia para impugnar el testimonio de Hoak haciéndolo quedar en ridículo en el estrado. Reston es absuelto. Hoak se venga tendiéndole una trampa a Blane quien es acusado de sobornar a un jurado del caso. Pronto Blane descubre que una tranquila comunidad en el desierto puede ser mortal.
