El adolescente JJ White (Jonathan Tucker) regresa a casa tras pasar seis meses en un centro de rehabilitación por orden de un juez. Le acompaña su psicoterapeuta, el amable doctor Charlie (David Strathairn). Lo espera para darle la bienvenida una familia un tanto peculiar.
