De Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre Spencer Bonaventure Tracy (5 de abril de 1900 - 10 de junio de 1967) fue un actor estadounidense, destacado por su estilo natural y versatilidad. Tracy, una de las principales estrellas de la Edad de Oro de Hollywood, ganó dos premios de la Academia al Mejor Actor entre nueve nominaciones, compartiendo el récord de nominaciones en esa categoría con Laurence Olivier. Tracy descubrió por primera vez su talento para la actuación mientras asistía a Ripon College y luego recibió una beca para la Academia Estadounidense de Artes Dramáticas. Pasó siete años en el teatro, trabajando en una sucesión de sociedades anónimas y de forma intermitente en Broadway. El avance de Tracy se produjo en 1930, cuando su actuación principal en The Last Mile llamó la atención de Hollywood. Después de un exitoso debut cinematográfico en Up the River, de John Ford, protagonizada por Tracy y Humphrey Bogart, firmó un contrato con Fox Film Corporation. Sus cinco años con Fox incluyeron un tour de force actoral tras otro que generalmente eran ignorados en la taquilla, y permaneció en gran medida desconocido para el público después de 25 películas, casi todas protagonizadas por Tracy como protagonista.
