Grant Mitchell (nacido como John Grant Mitchell Jr.) fue un actor de teatro y cine estadounidense. Es mejor recordado por sus interpretaciones de padres, maridos, empleados de banco, hombres de negocios, directores de escuelas y personajes similares, generalmente secundarios, en películas de los años 1930 y 1940. Mitchell, un posgraduado en Derecho de Harvard en Yale, abandonó su práctica jurídica para convertirse en actor, debutando en el teatro a los 27 años. Apareció en papeles principales en Broadway en obras como "It Pays to Advertise", "The Champion" , "The Whole Town's Talking" y "The Baby Cyclone", este último escrito especialmente para él por George M. Cohan. Su carrera cinematográfica despegó con la llegada del sonido (años antes había aparecido en al menos dos películas mudas).
