De Wikipedia, la enciclopedia libre Stan Laurel (nacido Arthur Stanley Jefferson, 16 de junio de 1890 - 23 de febrero de 1965) fue un actor cómico, escritor y director de cine inglés que formó parte del dúo cómico Laurel y Hardy. Apareció con su compañero de comedia Oliver Hardy en 107 cortometrajes, largometrajes y cameos. Laurel comenzó su carrera en el music hall, donde desarrolló varios de sus recursos cómicos estándar, incluido el bombín, la profunda gravedad cómica y la subestimación sin sentido. Sus actuaciones pulieron sus habilidades en pantomima y sketches de music hall. Fue miembro del "Ejército de Fred Karno", donde fue suplente de Charlie Chaplin. Él y Chaplin llegaron a Estados Unidos en el mismo barco procedente del Reino Unido con la compañía Karno. Laurel comenzó su carrera cinematográfica en 1917 e hizo su última aparición en 1951.
