Kristofer, un vieillard solitaire, mène une existence résignée depuis la mort de son épouse, survenue quelques années plus tôt. Inquiété par ses problèmes de mémoire, il consulte un médecin, qui lui apprend qu'il souffre des premiers symptômes de la maladie d'Alzheimer. Kristofer décide alors de profiter du temps qui lui reste pour découvrir ce qui est arrivé à son premier amour, Miko, une japonaise disparue dans des circonstances mystérieuses, il y a 50 ans, à Londres. Alors qu’il s’apprête à retourner en Angleterre, Kristofer apprend que les voyages deviendront bientôt difficiles à cause de la pandémie de COVID-19, qui vient d'éclore. Pour le vieillard, c’est le début d’une véritable course contre la montre.
