Fils d'ouvriers, Quentin obtient le succès avec son premier roman. Il a pour amis le costaud et charismatique Jimmy et Julie, une jeune fille issue de la bourgeoisie. Samir, un jeune beur, s'éprend de Quentin, qui se refuse à lui mais veut en faire le héros de son prochain livre.
